Research and Teaching

Lynne Butler enjoys teaching algebra and statistics to mathematics majors as well as cryptography to students concentrating in computer science. She built a statistics glossary for natural science faculty at Haverford, and wrote a movie review of A Beautiful Mind for the Notices of the American Mathematical Society.

  • Mathematical research with undergraduates: introduction to combinatorics and cryptanalysis, including an animation illustrating a theorem about order analogues; students mentored in the 1990s, their projects and career paths.
